Nikki and Aron met the old-fashioned way – on Hinge – and she fell in love with him after he made her homemade pizza from scratch for the first time. There is a sense of levity and lightness between Nikki and Aron that I really admire, they are just so pleasant to be around and share such a beautiful connection. I loved getting to know Nikki and Aron at their engagement session last Fall, they brought their adorable dog Jasper along and I completely fell in love with him!! He’s just the best boy and it made me really happy to have him come with Nikki and Aron when we met again before their wedding this Summer!
I also got to know Nikki and Aron a bit more at her sister Carly’s wedding this Spring. Being with their family for that celebration made me that much more excited to see everyone again for Nikki and Aron’s wedding this July!! It was a hot and humid day but Nikki and Aron decided to keep their ceremony outside as originally planned, and we are SO glad they did! Everything was absolutely perfect for their wedding – from the stunning florals by Blush & Blooms Co. to the gorgeous setting at The Drake Oak Brook this was a wedding we will always remember!
Congratulations, Nikki and Aron, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Ariana and Andrew met four years ago – on their second date, Andrew told Ariana he may be relocated to Arizona for work. They continued to date for four months and then his company did relocate him to Arizona, but they decided their connection was worth pursuing. Ariana and Andrew dated long distance for two years, traveling from Scottsdale to Chicago until Andrew was finally able to move back to Chicago for work. After growing closer together despite the two years of long-distance Ariana and Andrew got engaged on a family vacation on the East coast at a beautiful lighthouse overlooking the water.
When Marcella, Ryan and I made our way to The Farmhouse in Plainfield for Ariana and Andrew’s wedding we were excited to celebrate with this sweet couple. Ariana and her friends were in high-spirits as they got ready in the bridal suite at The Farmhouse – I was surprised to realize later that her brides’-man was one of my former students! Ariana was absolutely gorgeous in her lace wedding gown, and her smile was radiant throughout the entire day.
Ariana and Andrew shared their first look and emotional private vows on the patio at The Farmhouse and it was our favorite moment of their wedding day. They have such a tender connection and wrote such thoughtful vows for one another, it really felt special to be present in that moment with them. After taking pictures with Ariana and Andrew’s fun wedding party on the beautifully manicured grounds of The Farmhouse we prepared for their ceremony. Ariana and Andrew exchanged their vows in front of their guests and then the celebration really began!
After cocktail hour Ariana and Andrew were introduced and went right into their first dance as husband and wife, it was beautiful with the sunlight streaming into the great hall. They were surrounded by the love of their friends and family and treated to some emotional toasts on their behalf. We couldn’t stop giggling when Andrew’s best man took a big bite out of the BIG cannoli that held countless little cannolis on their sweets table. And just before we departed we were grateful for some soft pretty sunset light for a few last photos of Ariana and Andrew together. It was a perfect day and we were so grateful to be a part of it!
Congratulations, Ariana and Andrew, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Jessie and Andy met at a dance festival in Atlanta in 2022. On the last night of the event, they danced together for two hours! Jessie had a crush right away and wrote a long, heartfelt Instagram post about the grounding, safe, and caring space Andy created during their dance. They started texting, but Andy was still unsure if he was romantically interested. At another Brazilian Zouk event in Chicago two weeks later, Jessie asked Andy to join her for dinner and boldly asked him to let her know if he was ever interested in a non-dance connection. They saw each other at two more events in December and kept having 1-2 hour long dances. Just as Jessie was about to give up and move on, Andy caught the feels at the Interfusion Festival in January. Suddenly, he couldn't stop imagining what it would be like to be together! Now, the tables were turned. Andy was 100% in (and in full puppy-dog mode) and Jessie was wary and surprised by his change of heart. But, they started having 3-5 hour phone calls every day, and they were both struck by how easy it was to communicate with one another, and how much their values were aligned. Jessie visited Andy in February for a dance weekend, and Andy asked if he could introduce her as his girlfriend. They went back and forth between Chicago and St Louis for several months, creating fun memories of Summer in Chicago and friends' weddings in California and Alaska. Jessie "imported" Andy to St. Louis in August. One year later, during their trip to Europe, Andy proposed on a mountaintop near Lucerne, Switzerland! Andy read Jessie a beautiful proposal card. She said yes, and strangers applauded as they looked on!
When I first met Jessie and Andy in person for their engagement session in Lincoln Park I was struck by their warmth and the intensity of their connection. As we walked and talked and took photos they seemed to be continually intertwined, holding tight to one another both physically and emotionally. Jessie and Andy love out loud and it’s beautiful. I will always remember that warm evening that I spent with them (and their adorable Pom Kumara!) along the lakefront – I was truly looking forward to Jessie and Andy’s wedding after their memorable engagement session!
On their wedding day, Christy and I arrived at the Marriott Marquis to take getting ready photos and were surprised to find Jessie and Andy in the hotel room together – they were each visiting and getting ready with friends and family in separate areas of the suite. When they needed to move in the space they coordinated and turned so that they wouldn’t see one another, it was this lovely little “dance” that spoke to the respect and love that they share. Once Jessie slipped into her beautiful sparkly seafoam Andrea & Leo gown we made our way to the hotel lobby for their “first look.” Jessie and Andy joyfully embraced once they saw each other and their wedding dance began, the rest of the day and night they were happily swirling together.
We braved the heat and Chicago traffic to take beautiful pictures at both Olive Park and the Wrigley Building. Once we finished we made our way to the historic Mae District where we essentially walked right into their wedding ceremony, we made it there with only a few minutes to spare before it was time for Jessie to walk down the aisle! Their emotional ceremony was officiated by Jessie’s close friend from Australia, and after their first kiss their guests shared greetings of love and well-wishes by tossing a turquoise ball of yarn to one another, creating a beautiful web for Jessie and Andy to walk under as they joyfully made their way back down the aisle.
Jessie and Andy’s reception was intimate and unique; during cocktail hour Jessie serenaded her groom with two stunning operatic pieces leaving the entire room speechless. Then guests were treated to a Zouk lesson, which came in handy later once the room exploded into dancing after dinner! But for me one of the most powerfully memorable things about Jessie and Andy’s wedding was the speech that her Mother gave during dinner. She shared about her journey to have Jessie and the story was just amazing, and the love she has for her daughter was something I will always feel touched by. This was truly the most unforgettable wedding, we were deeply honored to be a part of Jessie and Andy’s celebration!
Congratulations, Jessie and Andy, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Ami & Conrad’s Dreamy Garfield Park Conservatory Wedding
I first met Conrad when he was just seventeen years old, finishing high school and willing to come alongside my burgeoning business to help me photograph weddings and edit photos. Little did I know then that I was meeting my best friend, someone who would help carry the weight of this business in ways I could have never imagined. Conrad is the most loyal, steadfast and supportive person I have ever known and I truly cannot imagine how Something Blue Photography could exist without him.
I first met Ami in 2019, not long after I left the hospital following my traumatic MS diagnosis. I was using a walker and felt vulnerable and weak, but Conrad invited me and my husband on a double-date with his new girlfriend Ami. Meeting Ami was a revelation, and for all the love I have for Conrad I knew after being with Ami for just one night that my friend had found his forever person. I knew that night that we had just met Conrad’s future wife, and I couldn’t be happier for my friend.
Ami and Conrad share an easy and peaceful connection that is rooted in shared respect and an appreciation for the good things in life. It has been so wonderful to be friends with these two over the years, they are like family to us and I am so thankful for all the memories we have together.
When Conrad was planning to propose to Ami he had the idea to pop the question in Paris, because truly what could be romantic than that?! He set the bar high and picked the most gorgeous ring for Ami, and Christy and I decided that we could use their proposal as the perfect excuse to get away to Europe for a week to photograph this moment for our dear friends. We tried to be sneaky and plan the proposal with Conrad over text and FaceTime but Ami caught a glimpse of us seconds before Conrad popped the question – even so it was the most beautiful and romantic moment watching Conrad ask Ami to marry him with the Eiffel Tower in the background. We celebrated together with wine and cheese (and pickles!) under the Eiffel Tower, and then woke up super early the next morning to take more pictures while the sun rose over Paris. Christy shot one of our favorite photographs EVER as Ami and Conrad happily strolled together along the Trocadéro while a flock of birds took flight all around them. This trip and these moments will forever be so special to us, we are so grateful for the opportunity to have celebrated Ami and Conrad’s proposal in Paris with them.
Ami and Conrad decided to take their time planning their wedding and over the next two years they chose to celebrate their marriage quietly with family and friends around the country. The last stop of their wedding celebration tour was Chicago, and they chose the gorgeous Garfield Park Conservatory for their wedding ceremony. Ami looked beautiful in her simple sheath from Anthropologie while Conrad chose a crisp brown suit and a floral tie that we jokingly said looked like upholstery from a vintage Grandma couch – they both looked amazing and very “them.” Their first look was so sweet, Conrad was so happy to see his beautiful bride and from that moment on they did not leave one another’s side.
The talented team at Flowers for Dreams set up the most gorgeous chuppah to serve as the perfect backdrop for Ami and Conrad’s ceremony. Ami’s Dad David served as their officiant and had us all laughing and crying simultaneously as he lovingly spoke about his daughter and new son during their ceremony. Finally the moment arrived and Ami and Conrad were officially pronounced husband and wife, we were just all so happy for them!! After taking pictures in the Conservatory we celebrated with an intimate dinner in Logan Square, and the next day we came back downtown for another round of pictures before enjoying their bigger party at Lonesome Rose. All along the way we felt so happy for Ami and Conrad and grateful to be a part of these beautiful celebrations!
The only way we could really properly capture Ami and Conrad’s wedding weekend was by shooting with film cameras, Christy and I had lots of fun snapping 35mm shots of each big moment throughout the weekend! I’m sort of obsessed with how these all turned out, I just love that film is having a moment right now!
We love you so much and wish you a lifetime of happiness together, Ami and Conrad!! Thank you for sharing your wedding memories with us!

Sophia and Nick met at work in 2018 and became fast friends, frequently going on afternoon coffee breaks to catch up on life outside the office. Their first unofficial date was to see a Of Monsters and Men concert in Chicago, which they soon followed up with an official date at a ramen place in Lakeview. They bonded over their musical tastes, love of travel and shared values. Fast forward five years and Nick proposed on a beautiful sunny morning on Siesta Key Beach and they began planning for their wedding!
Sophia and Nick wanted an intimate celebration with their closest friends and family and chose to celebrate at Morgan’s on Fulton (one of our favorite city venues!) We were so excited to have Marcella along to manage day-of coordination and help make sure everything was just perfect at Morgan’s on Fulton! While Marcella worked her magic we met up with Sophia and Nick at Union Station and The Wrigley Building for the sweetest first look and portraits. Sophia looked absolutely perfect in her Renhue gown and metallic Prada heels, this will easily go down as one of our FAVORITE bridal looks EVER! And Nick looked amazing in his timeless black tux from Jack Victor, it was so fun and easy to photograph this beautiful couple amongst Chicago’s most iconic architectural settings.
After finishing with pictures we made our way to Morgan’s for their ceremony. It was so special to witness the moment when Sophia and Nick became husband and wife, and afterwards everyone was ready to kick back and celebrate! Their guests enjoyed a hearty cocktail hour lit by golden early Summer light on Morgan’s gorgeous terrace, it was the most beautiful night. We are so grateful to have been present at this unforgettable wedding!
Congratulations, Sophia and Nick, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Tess and Jeff met through a mutual friend and were friends for several years before they were both single and decided to go on a first date. Tess was finishing a masters program in Chicago and Jeff received a job offer in Baltimore, so they did long distance for a year before Tess moved out to Baltimore to be with Jeff. After living together for a year and a half they got engaged at Glacier National Park and are excited to be moving back to Illinois to be closer to friends and family!
We were first connected with Tess and Jeff through her friends Elise and Garret (whose gorgeous Seven Bridges wedding we photographed in the Fall of 2023). I met with Tess and Jeff over Zoom and was so excited to get to know them on their wedding day this May! Tess told us that her Mom had been working to get their backyard picture-perfect for wedding photos, but nothing could have prepared us for how beautiful it was at Tess’ childhood home. We were fully in awe of the wisteria and annuals that created a magical space behind Tess’ childhood home, it was the perfect backdrop for her first look with Jeff and pictures with their wedding party!
Once we finished with pictures at Tess’ parents’ house we made our way to CD&ME to settle in before the ceremony. We took some more pictures by the gentle waterfalls outside of “The Mica” and then watched as Tess and Jeff exchanged their vows overlooking the water. Their joy was palpable when they were finally announced as husband and wife, and the rest of the evening felt like the most perfect celebration. It was such an honor for us to be alongside these two as they began their forever together!
Congratulations, Tess and Jeff, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Our Love for Film Photography

Film photography is definitely trending, and we are SO here for it! All of us first learned photography using film cameras – developing film by hand and making prints in the darkroom was such a magical way to fall in love with photography! But as technology changed and digital cameras became more accessible it only made sense that the wedding photography industry drifted away from film and has been almost entirely digital for the at least the last twenty years. But film encompasses a unique aesthetic, tactile experience and deliberate creative process that digital photography often lacks.
More of our Something Blue couples are asking us for film coverage on their wedding day and it has been an absolute blast to work this way! We bring along a few vintage film cameras and snap analog pics throughout the day; typically we tell couples we will shoot up to three rolls of film in addition to the standard comprehensive digital coverage that we always provide. It’s always so much fun to see the results after we send the film off to the lab to be processed!
Film photography offers a distinctive visual style characterized by grain, soft tones, and subtle imperfections that evoke nostalgia and emotional depth. The process itself encourages a more mindful approach, fostering intentionality and a deeper connection with the moment. There is beauty in the unpredictable aspects of shooting film with vintage cameras – we love seeing light leaks, motion blur and unexpected surprises that each roll of film provides! Here are some of our favorite film images from three recent weddings, we hope you love them as much as we do!!
Olivia & Dan’s Sweet Spring Georgio's Banquets Wedding

Olivia and Dan both grew up on the South side and knew each other’s families for years, but they didn’t meet until July 2020 at a block party. That night they stayed out together until 5am and then started hanging out every weekend after that. Olivia said that they just “always loved each other and knew they were going to get married.” And that’s really the way it feels to be around Olivia and Dan – their love is so natural and perfect it just feels like they were made for each other. They got engaged at their favorite restaurant on their 3 year anniversary and celebrated with friends and family at a party afterwards.
I loved getting to know Olivia and Dan while taking their engagement photos last Summer at the Indiana Dunes. Olivia looked SO good in her white engagement dress and I couldn’t get over how striking Dan’s eyes are, but the real beauty of this couple is in the connection they share with one another. It was just so easy to be with them and to take their photos, I was beyond excited to see them again this Spring for their wedding!
Conrad, Lindsay and I made the trip to the South side of Chicago on a sunny Spring day for “getting ready” photos at Olivia’s childhood home. Their family’s adorable husky was there watching over the controlled chaos and was happy to get pets from the bridesmaids and us whenever possible! Olivia’s textured ponytail by Marlo Salon was the perfect fit for her sleek gown from Eva’s International, and her makeup was on-point thanks to the talented Caroline Olenick. Once Olivia was dressed and ready we did a sweet reveal with her bridesmaids and Dad before heading to Water’s Edge for the “first look” and pictures with the wedding party.
Olivia rode separately to Water’s Edge but stopped in with her girls on the trolley for a fun quick dance party before heading out to see Dan. Dan looked a little bit nervous when we met up with him, but those nerves quickly went away as soon as he saw his gorgeous bride. His expression after seeing Olivia was priceless!! After their first look Olivia and Dan were inseparable for the rest of the day.
Once we finished with wedding party and family photos at Water’s Edge we made the trip to St. Christina’s for Olivia and Dan’s ceremony. This was our fourth wedding at St. Christina’s and we just LOVE shooting at this gorgeous church – the light inside of the sanctuary is always stunning thanks to the abundant stained glass and reflective marble surfaces. Olivia and Dan chose to celebrate with a short ceremony, and once they were pronounced husband and wife we made time to take some beautiful photographs of them with that striking prismatic light.
After finishing with pictures at St. Christina’s we made our way to Georgios Banquets to celebrate the newlyweds. The party was packed and the reception hall was bursting with love – Olivia and Dan gave the sweetest welcome speech and remarked on just how amazing it was for so many of their friends and family to be gathered together to celebrate their love. It was truly just the perfect day, we were so honored to be there in honor of Olivia and Dan!
Congratulations, Olivia and Dan, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Samantha & Bobby’s Fairytale Cantigny Wedding

Samantha and Bobby first met when they were kids at karate. They then re-connected through Bobby's brother because he and Sam became best friends in high school. Sam also became best friends with their sister Jessica, and throughout the years Sam and Bobby formed their own friendship. In Summer of 2018, Bobby took a chance and they officially began dating in August. The rest, as they say, is history.
When Sam and Bobby asked us to capture their wedding day they met with Conrad, so I did not have the opportunity to get to know them until their engagement session at The Morton Arboretum just a few weeks before their wedding. I had the best afternoon with these two, we had so much fun exploring together! That session gave me a real view into the depth of the love they share, it was a joy to then look forward to their wedding at Cantigny later that Summer!
Sam had always dreamed of having a fairytale wedding; all of her planning paid off and in the end this was truly a perfect day. She had traveled to NYC to find her dream dress at Kleinfeld Bridal (from “Say Yes to the Dress”) and the gown was truly perfect on her – when Sam floated down the stairs to show her besties her bridal look it was such a special moment!! Her hype crew kept the energy up as we ventured out onto the grounds at Cantigny for wedding party photos. Sam and Bobby were determined to take pictures ON the tanks at Cantigny, definitely a “first” for us and an epic moment we will never forget! Sam had a stepladder handy to scale the tanks like an absolute boss, we loved the energy of this fun and unforgettable moment!
Throughout the day we caught plenty of pop-culture references from Sam and Bobby, including their strong Vanderpump Rules energy when posing together with their wedding party in the gardens at Cantigny. After we wrapped up with photos it was time for the ceremony to begin near the reflecting pool on the lawn of the Cantigny mansion. It was breathtaking watching Sam walk from the mansion down the long aisle to meet with Bobby at the altar, she truly floated in her gown and looked like a true princess. Their ceremony was marked by touching vows and a sweet tree-planting ceremony with dirt from both of their childhood homes. After Sam and Bobby kissed the celebration truly began, but first we had to capture some slow-motion footage of Sam and Bobby running towards their reception and into the sunset together hand-in-hand. We snapped a few romantic pictures during the gorgeous sunset (and even included the tank stepladder for posterity!) before heading in for the perfect party. Sam’s Mom gave an amazing toast and some insight into where Sam gets her awesome sense of humor, her Mom started her speech by saying the pledge of allegiance! This was such a fun and unforgettable day, but through it all the love between Sam and Bobby was truly the star. We are so grateful to have been a part of this fairytale wedding!!
Congratulations, Sam and Bobby, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Julie and Shane met the old fashioned way – on a dating app – although he likes to tell everyone she was waiting for him at baggage claim at O'Hare when he arrived after transferring for work from Ireland in 2019. Their first date was in November 2019 and a few months later they spent quite a lot of time getting to know one another when COVID-19 hit and they quarantined together. Shane proposed to Julie on top of O'Brien's Tower at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland the Summer of 2022.
Julie and Shane dreamed of having their wedding at the truly gorgeous Cafe Brauer in Lincoln Park and decided to wait so that they could have their dream wedding there. In December 2023 they welcomed their adorable daughter Niamh to the world and started earnestly planning for their wedding at Cafe Brauer the following Summer.
Conrad was honored to join Julie and Shane as they celebrated their wedding with their closest family and friends. Many of their guests came in from out of town for the occasion and Julie and Shane made sure to connect with as many of their loved ones as possible throughout this gorgeous day. It was truly a joy to be alongside this warm and loving couple as they officially began their journey together as husband and wife!

Laura and Zach met while working at the same office in Atlanta in November 2018. They bonded over a shared love of the Chicago Bears (she is from Libertyville and he is from outside of Peoria) and started dating shortly thereafter but kept it secret from their coworkers for years! In November 2021, Zach was transferred to Charlotte while Laura was transferred back home to Chicago. After a year of dating long distance Laura finally wore Zach down enough and convinced him to move home as well. After living together in her condo in the West Loop for nine months Zach proposed over Labor Day weekend at Devil’s Lake State Park. Not long after that they moved into their first home together in our hometown of Arlington Heights and began earnestly planning the wedding of their dreams!
Laura carefully planned every detail for their perfect wedding at The Metropolis Ballroom. She had a sweet little brigade of flower girls and ring bearers because she told her friends and family that “if they wanted their kids to come to the wedding then their kids would be IN the wedding,” which led to some absolutely adorable moments throughout the day! When Conrad and I arrived everyone was in great spirits and the little girls were loving twirling in their fancy white dresses, it was so cute! After pampering by the talented team at Hairs 2 The Bride Laura slipped into her beautiful Maggie Sotero gown, she looked absolutely gorgeous. Then it was time for Laura and Zach to have their First Look on the Metropolis veranda, it was such a romantic moment. After spending a little time admiring one another and exchanging letters Laura and Zach took Polaroid photos of each other on the veranda to use later as their cake topper.
It was a pleasure getting to know their wedding planner Amber from Peony Events throughout the day, Amber helped to make sure every detail was executed to fit Laura’s vision for their perfect wedding day. Laura had printed a photograph of every married couple who was coming as a guest to the wedding and everyone received those pictures as their parting favor, it was SO thoughtful and sweet! Laura and Zach each had their own disposable cameras that they used throughout the day to snap pictures of each other, honestly we would LOVE to see those shots once the film gets developed! One last memorable detail was that Laura had hired a “live painter” to forever capture their ceremony in paint, Jennifer from Dihel Art did a wonderful job capturing the essence of this beautiful day! As the live band played to celebrate the newlyweds we snuck outside to the Arlington Alfresco for some epic paparazzi-style photos of Laura and Zach, it was awesome to hear the roaring crowd cheering for these two as we worked our way through the streets snapping pictures! It truly was a picture-perfect day that we will always be thankful to have been a part of!
Congratulations, Laura and Zach, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Christine & Mason’s Gorgeous Morton Arboretum Wedding

I first met Christine when she helped her good friend Stephanie with her dog at her engagement session in the Fall of 2022. Christine and Stephanie are besties from college and I knew right away that they had a special friendship, I mean how many people would give up a weekend afternoon to help manage their friend’s dog during a photo shoot?! But that’s the kind of person Christine is, selfless and kind and willing to go the extra mile for her friends.
I was thrilled when Christine invited us to photograph her wedding to her fiancé Mason! We had a lovely afternoon together during their engagement session last Summer at The Morton Arboretum where we would return in 2024 for their wedding day. I loved exploring the beautiful sprawling property with Christine and Mason and finding pockets of pretty light with them, that session made me so excited for their wedding!
When the big day arrived Conrad and I met Christine upstairs at the Morton Arboretum where she was waiting with her Mom and sister Rachel. Christine looked gorgeous in her gown from Bri’Zan Couture, and her hair and makeup was perfect thanks to the talented team from The Bridal Beauty Team. After the beautiful flowers arrived from Shamrock Garden Florals we were ready to move outside – Christine first had a sweet and emotional reveal with her Dad before her First Look with Mason. Once everyone had seen Christine we moved across the Arboretum to the Thornhill Education Center for photos. Christine and Mason chose a small wedding party – only her sister Rachel and his best friend Jake – and we had the best time taking pictures with these four. We just love small wedding parties, there’s something so intimate and comfortable about spending time with the people you love most on your wedding day. After taking pictures outside we were given the opportunity to make some beautiful photographs inside the Thornhill Education Center, those were some of our favorite moments from the day!
Christine and Mason’s ceremony took place at the Grand Garden and was absolutely stunning – this gorgeous site felt like an Italian vista and was the perfect spot for this sweet couple to exchange their vows. After their ceremony we moved into the Ginko Room to celebrate the newlyweds, our very own Ashley and Marcella had gone above and beyond as day-of coordinators to help make the room look party-ready. We snuck away during the reception to enjoy beautiful golden light across the pond before the sun set and the dance floor opened. Christine and Mason’s guests danced the night away (the party was so much fun that we had to give some wedding crashers the boot!) It was an amazing day and we were so grateful to share in Christine and Mason’s love story 💙
Congratulations, Christine and Mason, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Nicole & Roger’s Perfect Seven Bridges Golf Club Wedding

Nicole and Roger’s story started out as most modern love stories do. . . on the internet. In Spring of 2019 they matched on Hinge. Due to Roger “not mixing work with personal life” they unmatched after three messages. Then, in September of that same year, Nicole got into a minor fender bender in Berwyn and Roger was there in full firefighter gear to save the day. They both noticed the other, but chose to not mention the infamous Hinge fail. Then in October, Nicole came across Roger on Bumble, and decided to swipe right yet again. This time, it ended with drinks at Imperial Oak on October 29, and the rest they say is history! Then, on July 19, 2023 after a great day of exploring Door County, Nicole and Roger got engaged!
From the moment I met Nicole and Roger at our Studio I knew that these two were meant to be together. I loved getting to know them better at their engagement session last Fall – they are just so easy to be around and so comfortable with one another, it was truly a joy to take their pictures! These two are honestly just perfect together, being around them makes me believe in true love. Conrad and Ryan and I were beyond excited to celebrate their wedding with them this August at Seven Bridges Golf Club!
When we arrived at Nicole’s childhood home to take pictures of the girls getting ready we were greeted by so much joy, and Nicole was absolutely glowing. Nicole had a sweet “first look” with her Dad on the staircase at their home (I just LOVE a good staircase moment) and then we made our way to Seven Bridges for things to really get started. We took some pictures of the girls on the course before moving them back inside and swapping out for Roger and the guys. When I saw Roger for the first time that day I told him how gorgeous Nicole looked and he couldn’t hold back his emotions. It was honestly one of the sweetest moments I have ever shared with a groom, the way he loves her is so beautiful. As the ceremony began Roger had his back turned to the building and turned around just as Nicole reached the end of the aisle, his reaction to seeing his bride was so emotional and perfect. After their sweet ceremony we snuck off with Nicole and Roger for some pretty golden photos before the reception began. Once Nicole and Roger were introduced to their cheering guests it really felt like a party – we loved hearing each toast and clinking our glasses along with the newlyweds’ friends and family to get them to kiss. After gobbling up THE most delicious donuts we have ever had from DeEtta’s Bakery the dance floor opened and everyone rushed to party, it was honestly just the best night. We would do it all over again if we could, sending so much love and gratitude to this wonderful couple!!
Congratulations, Nicole and Roger, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Sarah & Ed’s Romantic Rolling Green Country Club Wedding

Sarah and Ed met in graduate school when some of their classmates people got together for a Harry Potter trivia night and they ended up on the same team. That was the first time they had hung out with each other outside of class, and they really hit it off. Unfortunately, that first connection happened right before COVID hit, so Sarah and Ed weren't able to see each other for a while, even in class. It wasn't until months later that Sarah worked up the nerve to get Ed's number from a mutual friend and text him.
Sarah and Ed started talking over winter break while he was in Lithuania visiting family, which wasn't easy with the time difference, but they made it work. Once Ed came back to the State they made plans right away and it wasn't long before they had fallen in love. Sarah and Ed got engaged just over two years later while at the same restaurant where they celebrated their first Valentine's Day together.
I loved getting to know Sarah and Ed at they engagement session last Fall. Sarah is gorgeous inside and out, and witnessing the love between Sarah and Ed is something that I really enjoyed being part of. When their wedding day arrived the weather was absolutely gorgeous for a perfect celebration at our hometown country club Rolling Green. Christy and I arrived and met Sarah and her besties in Rolling Green’s adorable new bridal suite, we loved photographing the girls in this fun space! Once Sarah was dressed she went outside for her first look with Ed, his reaction to seeing his bride was so incredibly sweet. We loved exploring the course at Rolling Green for photos with Sarah and Ed’s wedding party!
After a beautiful ceremony overlooking the pond and water wheel Ed’s family presented the newlyweds with a special gift to honor their Lithuanian tradition. We celebrated together with their friends and family and just had the best day with this wonderful couple!!
Congratulations, Sarah and Ed, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Kristen and Sidd met in early 2019 when they were both living in NYC. Sidd talked nonstop on their first date, and they slowly fell in love on long walks together around the city and over lots of pancakes. Sidd proposed on a trip to Sevilla, Spain and the newly engaged couple moved to the Washington DC area last summer.
I loved spending time with Kristen and Sidd in downtown Chicago for their engagement session last Fall. Kristen is quiet but Sidd brings out her sweetness and warmth, it was a joy to see how they perfectly complement one another. When it came time for their Royal Melbourne wedding this June Christy and I were excited to head back to this gorgeous venue to celebrated Kristen and Sidd’s love. Kristen and Sidd chose an “Indian fusion” theme for their wedding to honor both of their cultural backgrounds – the bridesmaids wore gorgeous light blue saris while the groomsmen looked handsome in their custom gold suits. Kristen looked angelic in her beautiful dress from Volle’s, her gown looked like it was made just for her. After a sweet reveal with her bridesmaids and Dad Kristen went outside of the club to see Sidd for their First Look. Sidd lit up when he saw his stunning bride and couldn’t take his eyes off her for the rest of the day!
During Kristen and Sidd’s ceremony they incorporated some meaningful Indian traditions. We loved the moment when Sidd placed a beautiful necklace on his bride to signify their matrimonial bond and provide Kristen with blessings in their marriage. Adorned with flower garlands the newlyweds kissed and made their way to an unforgettable celebration at their reception. It was the perfect day, we were honored to be a part of it.
Congratulations, Kristen and Sidd, we love you and with you a lifetime of happiness together!

Mary & Jack’s Unforgettable Lincoln Hall Wedding

Mary and Jack’s epic love story was nearly ten years in the making before their unforgettable wedding day at the incredible Lincoln Hall downtown. They met like so many college students did back in 2014 – on Tinder – where Jack complimented her haircut and they made plans to meet up for coffee on Notre Dame’s campus. Mary and Jack bonded over art, volleyball and a shared love of 80’s music.
In April 2016 Mary and Jack’s exciting junior year of college was suddenly put on hold when they were in a severe car accident. Their life-threatening injuries landed them in the ICU where they were in and out of consciousness and the OR. Unable to walk themselves, nurses wheeled Mary and Jack into each other’s rooms so they could visit. They were hospitalized for one month and used wheelchairs for the summer. Jack and Mary recovered thanks to boundless love and support shown by doctors, nurses, professors, priests, friends, and family. Mary and Jack were back on their feet for the start of their senior year and graduated from Notre Dame and Saint Mary’s in the Spring of 2017.
Mary and Jack’s love continued to grow as they settled into their new lives post-graduation. In 2020 Mary graduated from Columbia with her MFA and moved in with Jack (and their adopted kitty Bella!) In 2022 Jack proposed close to home before the newly engaged couple celebrated over dinner at a local French restaurant under romantic string lights. Their love story was almost ten years in the making, and we were honored to celebrate Mary and Jack’s closest friends and family at their perfect Lincoln Hall wedding!
Mary got ready at the gorgeous Villa D’Citta Bed and Breakfast on Halsted. Surrounded by her favorite ladies Mary was relaxed and joyful as she transformed into a gorgeous bride, her literal crowning touch being a stunning floral headpiece designed by the talented team at Goldie’s Flower Shop. Once Mary was ready we made our way to Lincoln Hall to be greeted by Mary and Jack’s names and an epic Prince reference on the marquee. Honestly, from that moment on we all felt a bit like rockstars all day at this awesome venue! Mary and Jack saw each other for the first time on their wedding day under the marquee and then we spent time together dodging raindrops and making pretty pictures around the music hall.
When it was time for Mary and Jack’s ceremony they took to the stage and the crowd was transfixed – having friends officiate the ceremony made for an intimate and emotional moment for this wonderful couple. We then toasted with Spunky Dunkers donuts and danced the night away to celebrate, it was truly the most perfect day!!
Congratulations, Mary and Jack, we love you so much and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Jeanne and Kevin’s Emotional DiNolfo’s Wedding
Jeanne and Kevin’s love story may well be one of the most romantic we have ever had the honor of witnessing. With over sixteen years of friendship as their foundation, being alongside Jeanne and Kevin as they made things official and became husband and wife was an absolute joy. . .
Jeanne and Kevin’s love story may well be one of the most romantic we have ever had the honor of witnessing. With over sixteen years of friendship as their foundation, being alongside Jeanne and Kevin as they made things official and became husband and wife was an absolute joy.
Jeanne’s first memories of Kevin go back to their Sunday morning CCD class at St. Christina’s (the same church where they would get married 16+ years later!) where she said he was “one of the only well-behaved and respectful kids”. Kevin remembers meeting Jeanne in high school through mutual friends and valuing their friendship from the very beginning. Though they always shared affection with one another, Jeanne and Kevin’s friendship really solidified when she became pregnant with Thomas. Kevin left the door open and Jeanne felt comfortable enough to turn to him to be her sounding board. Where the father of Jeanne’s baby was absent, Kevin stepped in and was a friend to her through thick and thin. Kevin took Jeanne on her maternity ward tour, took her out for ice cream and to their senior prom. From the beginning, Jeanne would describe Kevin as “one of the best men” she knew, while Kevin knew from those early days that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Jeanne.
Jeanne and Kevin found themselves bonding more and more every day through laughs and tears. As years passed, they watched each other go in and out of relationships with others while secretly rooting for those other relationships would end so they could have a chance to be together. Kevin loved Jeanne and her son Tommy from the start, while Jeanne and Tommy always sensed that love from Kevin and felt at home with him. It was only a matter of time before Jeanne and Kevin ended up together, and their marriage officially made the three of them a family. As Kevin said, “Jeanne is my better half, Tommy my son, these things have always been in my heart.”
Conrad, Ashley and I were all so happy to come along for Jeanne and Kevin’s wedding. There were so many emotional moments throughout the day, but those moments with Tommy will stand out as our favorites to witness. Tommy’s reaction to seeing his Mom as a bride. Tommy’s pride as he stood alongside his Mom at the altar, his smile when taking pictures with the wedding party. His laugh when Jeanne picked up her teenage son “just to prove she can”. But perhaps our favorite moment of the day was when Tommy gave the most eloquent and heartfelt toast during their celebratory dinner at DiNolfo’s Banquets – there was not a dry eye in the room as Tommy confidently delivered THE best toast we have ever heard. It was truly a magical day filled with so much beauty and love, we will always cherish the memories of this perfect wedding.
Congratulations, Jeanne and Kevin, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Moriah and Matt live together in Washington D.C. but her family is from the Chicago area. We had only connected with them over Zoom so we were so excited to meet them in person on their wedding day at The Hyatt Lodge. Conrad and I were so warmly welcomed when we arrived at the Hyatt Lodge for “getting ready” photos, it felt like we were together with old friends! That’s just how Moriah and Matt are, they are so kind and can make anyone feel at home when spending time with them.
Moriah is very close with her family, it was so sweet to be with them all together throughout the day. She shared several emotional moments with her Mom and Dad while she was getting ready, we just love when our brides have a close relationship with their parents! Once she was dressed Moriah made her way outside for her First Look with Matt. Moriah and Matt shared private vows right after seeing one another, this is one of our favorite “new” wedding traditions! Watching Moriah and Matt from a distance while they shared their vows was our favorite moment from their wedding day, it was so clear that these two share a special bond.
After photos at the Hyatt Lodge we headed to St. Edna’s in Arlington Heights for their traditional Catholic wedding ceremony. It was a beautiful ceremony, and it was so fun to know two of the vocalists who shared their beautiful voices (one of our former brides Lisa and Christy’s Dad!) We loved being a part of this special day, what a joy it was to be alongside Moriah and Matt as they began their married lives together!
Congratulations, Moriah and Matt, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Sarah & Jarrod’s Perfect Gaelic Park Wedding

Sarah and Jarrod first met at a bar downtown after she attended a Shania Twain concert. They didn't hit it off right away, but separately told their mutual friend Kathryn that they thought the other was cute. From then on Kathryn did what she could to invite Sarah and Jarrod to the same events. After a handful of events these two were talking non-stop. Sarah and Jarrod did everything to keep their long-distance relationship going – whether it was Jarrod spending every weekend in Chicago or Sarah making the trip to Detroit. The rest is history.
Sarah and Jarrod got engaged near Saint Germain, Wisconsin. After a trip to a local brewery they went to Sarah's family cabin down the road. When they got to the cabin they went out onto the lake and looked back at the cabin. The next thing you know, Jarrod was down on one knee in the middle of the lake proposing. It was the perfect moment for this perfect couple!!
I loved getting to know Sarah and Jarrod at their engagement session last Summer. Sarah and Jarrod are both kind, laid-back and up for anything, they make doing this job SO easy. It was exciting to shoot their wedding with Conrad, we love when we have the opportunity to take pictures together on a wedding day! When we arrived at Sarah and Jarrod’s new home for “getting ready” photos with the girls everyone was in great spirits, especially Sarah, who looked radiant and was so welcoming to us. Once Sarah was dressed she shared a sweet moment with her Dad before we left for Lake Katherine for pictures. It was unseasonably warm for early November, we were so thankful for the sunshine while we spent time near the lake! Jarrod was sweetly emotional during their First Look, and from that moment on these two were smiley and inseparable for the rest of the day.
After pictures at Lake Katherine we made our way to Church of the Transfiguration for Sarah and Jarrod’s wedding ceremony. The sun streamed in through the overhead windows and beautifully lit the altar while Sarah and Jarrod exchanged their vows. Once they were officially married we made a quick stop at Plush Horse ice cream shop just down the road for a sweet treat to celebrate before landing at Gaelic Park for the reception. It truly was a perfect day, what an honor and joy it was to celebrate Sarah and Jarrod’s love and new life together!
Congratulations, Sarah and Jarrod, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Sara & Andy’s Romantic Boundary Ballroom Wedding

Sara and Andy met in 2015 when they were both working at the social work agency Thresholds downtown. Andy is a social worker and Sara was working there as an administrative assistant while going to grad school. They had crushes on each other without realizing the other was interested, and ended up going on to separate jobs without connecting. Their friend group from that job stayed close though, and when the opportunity arose in late 2018, they pushed us toward each other again, figuratively and literally. Sara and Andy moved in together during COVID and survived working from home in their two bedroom apartment for two years. They got engaged on Christmas morning 2021 at Promontory Point, where they had gone on one of their favorite dates.
Books are a central theme for Sara and Andy’s relationship – they love sharing books with one another and chose to do part of their engagement session at their favorite bookstore downtown. They bonded over Jane Austin’s “Persuasion” and that book made an appearance both at their engagement session and on their wedding day. I loved getting to know Sara and Andy that day, and when our session was cut short by bad weather we had the opportunity to reconnect later that fall at Promontory Point for the rest of their session. Every time I was with Sara and Andy it was plain to see just how in-love these two are, Andy absolutely adores Sara and is just so sweet with her.
When the time came for Sara and Andy’s wedding we were all so excited to celebrate their love. Sara looked amazing in her beautiful Morilee By Madeline Gardner gown, and once they had their emotional first look Andy could not take his eyes off Sara for the rest of the day. We have hardly ever seen a groom who was more eager to compliment his bride, Andy could not stop looking at Sara and telling her how beautiful she was.
Sara and Andy chose to do their romantic first look at the Schiller Park Library so they could be surrounded by books on their wedding day. They also had beautiful literary details sprinkled throughout their wedding, including amazing paper flowers made by their friend and a truly epic book archway that set the stage for their wedding ceremony. Sara and Andy’s wedding day was just as romantic as the books the first bonded over, we were honored to be there to celebrate their love.
Congratulations, Sara and Andy, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!
