Ariana & Andrew’s Sweet Farmhouse Plainfield Wedding

Ariana and Andrew met four years ago – on their second date, Andrew told Ariana he may be relocated to Arizona for work. They continued to date for four months and then his company did relocate him to Arizona, but they decided their connection was worth pursuing. Ariana and Andrew dated long distance for two years, traveling from Scottsdale to Chicago until Andrew was finally able to move back to Chicago for work. After growing closer together despite the two years of long-distance Ariana and Andrew got engaged on a family vacation on the East coast at a beautiful lighthouse overlooking the water.

When Marcella, Ryan and I made our way to The Farmhouse in Plainfield for Ariana and Andrew’s wedding we were excited to celebrate with this sweet couple. Ariana and her friends were in high-spirits as they got ready in the bridal suite at The Farmhouse – I was surprised to realize later that her brides’-man was one of my former students! Ariana was absolutely gorgeous in her lace wedding gown, and her smile was radiant throughout the entire day.

Ariana and Andrew shared their first look and emotional private vows on the patio at The Farmhouse and it was our favorite moment of their wedding day. They have such a tender connection and wrote such thoughtful vows for one another, it really felt special to be present in that moment with them. After taking pictures with Ariana and Andrew’s fun wedding party on the beautifully manicured grounds of The Farmhouse we prepared for their ceremony. Ariana and Andrew exchanged their vows in front of their guests and then the celebration really began!

After cocktail hour Ariana and Andrew were introduced and went right into their first dance as husband and wife, it was beautiful with the sunlight streaming into the great hall. They were surrounded by the love of their friends and family and treated to some emotional toasts on their behalf. We couldn’t stop giggling when Andrew’s best man took a big bite out of the BIG cannoli that held countless little cannolis on their sweets table. And just before we departed we were grateful for some soft pretty sunset light for a few last photos of Ariana and Andrew together. It was a perfect day and we were so grateful to be a part of it!

Congratulations, Ariana and Andrew, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Emma & Brett’s Beautiful Makray Memorial Golf Club Wedding

Emma and Brett first met when they were working together as camp counselors at the Palatine Park District during the Summer of 2017, before our junior year of college. They were friendly at first and then started texting before going out on their first date. Emma and Brett spent every weekday together at camp that Summer, and would hang out after camp many days, too. Luckily they both attended the University of Illinois so they easily transitioned their relationship to college. After dating for seven years Emma and Brett got engaged at the same park where they first met, how sweet is that?!

Conrad loved spending time with Emma and Brett at their engagement session last Fall and was so excited to celebrate their wedding with them this June! After a bit of a long engagement Emma and Brett were so happy to finally become husband and wife! It was quite hot on their wedding day but both Emma and Brett were troopers and made sure to take plenty of great photos outside on the beautiful grounds at Makray Memorial Golf Club. Brett carried his great-grandfather’s pocket watch and Emma wore fun blue shoes, we just love the little details that make each wedding special!

After their sweet first look alongside the ivy-covered stone wall at Makray Emma and Brett shared sweet private vows. They also wrote love-letters to each other and sealed them in a box with a bottle of wine to read on their anniversary. Their ceremony was filled with sweet moments and officiated by Emma’s friend and bridesmaid Maria who did a wonderful job, we love when the couple chooses someone close to them to officiate their wedding ceremony!

Once Emma and Brett were pronounced husband and wife everyone made their way upstairs to celebrate with a beautiful reception hosted by our friends at Makray. The dramatic twisting staircase was transformed with greenery by Twigs and Blooms, according to our resident green-thumb Lindsay these were some of the most stunning wedding florals we have ever seen. Emma and Brett were graced with a gorgeous sunset, we captured some pretty photos of them together outside before settling into a night of dancing to celebrate the newlyweds. It was the most beautiful day and we were so grateful to be a part of it!

Congratulations, Emma and Brett, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Laura & Manse’s Lovely Glen Club Wedding

Laura and Manse met the old fashioned way – on a dating app – and bonded over their love of dogs and good food. They were comfortable with one another from the beginning . . .

Laura and Manse met the old fashioned way – on a dating app – and bonded over their love of dogs and good food. They were comfortable with one another from the beginning and found it easy to talk about anything and everything. They got engaged in their backyard and after she said yes they were greeted by their dogs Hazy and Copper and both sets of parents to celebrate!

Laura and Manse are kind and laid back, Conrad loved getting to know them at their engagement session downtown. They started at Bangers & Lace in Wicker Park for some fun casual shots at their favorite spot for drinks and food. Laura then changed into a pretty green dress and they headed to the Lincoln Park Nature Walk, it was such an easy and pretty day, Conrad was excited to celebrate their wedding the following Summer!

When the big day arrived Conrad and Lindsay met with Laura at her parents’ house for getting ready photos with Laura and her bridesmaids. These girls were amazing and helped make sure everything ran smoothly throughout the day, all while hyping Laura up and making Manse laugh. Laura’s faithful dog Copper was there and sweetly looked on as Laura changed into her sleek Sophia Tolli gown. Laura then shared the sweetest first look with her Dad before they made their way to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Glenview for the ceremony.

Manse was all smiles as Laura’s Dad walked her down the aisle, and he didn’t take his eyes off his bride for the rest of the day. After their traditional ceremony and a joyful trolley ride to The Glen Club we settled in for a perfect evening celebrating the newlyweds. We were graced with a pretty sunset where Laura and Manse could enjoy a quiet moment together to revel in their new status as husband and wife. It was such a lovely day, we were truly thankful to be a part of these moments!

Congratulations, Laura and Manse, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Norah & Lewis’ Romantic Redfield Estate Wedding

Nora and Lewis share a remarkable connection, a love that knows no boundaries. When we had our first meeting about wedding photography Lewis came alone on behalf of his fiancé . . .

Nora and Lewis share a remarkable connection, a love that knows no boundaries. When we had our first meeting about wedding photography Lewis came alone on behalf of his fiancé – in all the years we have been doing weddings we have NEVER had a groom come to a meeting without his bride! That tells you what kind of a guy Lewis is, he adores Nora and would do anything for her. She was busy studying for finals and Lewis wanted to help ease some of the wedding planning stress, from that first meeting I loved Lewis and was so excited to be a part of this wedding!

When the day arrived for Nora and Lewis’ wedding we met at the beautiful Redfield Estate at The Grove and met Nora upstairs with her bridesmaids and Mom getting ready. I took Nora’s bridal details downstairs and was so surprised when I unzipped her wedding gown garment bag and found her stunning black celestial gown by Flora & Lane. I knew from that moment that we were in for a special day celebrating Nora and Lewis, I just love that they honored their relationship and chose to do things their way!

The moment when Nora and Lewis first saw each other on their wedding day was filled with sweetness and emotion. We took pictures with their wedding party before lining up for their ceremony by the gazebo. It was really special to watch Nora and Lewis exchange their vows and participate in a traditional hand-fasting ceremony before they were pronounced husband and wife. After their first kiss they walked back down the winding path and shared their secret handshake together, it was just the cutest!!

After we finished with pictures at The Grove we made our way to Top Golf in Schaumburg for their reception. Conrad and I love a good challenge when it comes to making beautiful wedding photos, and we were pretty excited to do some couples photos of Nora and Lewis in and around Top Golf! We found plenty of beautiful light and reflective surfaces to play with, we love how those photos turned out! It was a great night spent celebrating this wonderful couple, we were happy to have been a part of this unforgettable day!

Congratulations, Nora and Lewis, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Olivia & Dan’s Sweet Spring Georgio's Banquets Wedding

Olivia and Dan both grew up on the South side and knew each other’s families for years, but they didn’t meet until July 2020 at a block party. That night they stayed out together until 5am and then started hanging out every weekend after that. . .

Olivia and Dan both grew up on the South side and knew each other’s families for years, but they didn’t meet until July 2020 at a block party. That night they stayed out together until 5am and then started hanging out every weekend after that. Olivia said that they just “always loved each other and knew they were going to get married.” And that’s really the way it feels to be around Olivia and Dan – their love is so natural and perfect it just feels like they were made for each other. They got engaged at their favorite restaurant on their 3 year anniversary and celebrated with friends and family at a party afterwards.

I loved getting to know Olivia and Dan while taking their engagement photos last Summer at the Indiana Dunes. Olivia looked SO good in her white engagement dress and I couldn’t get over how striking Dan’s eyes are, but the real beauty of this couple is in the connection they share with one another. It was just so easy to be with them and to take their photos, I was beyond excited to see them again this Spring for their wedding!

Conrad, Lindsay and I made the trip to the South side of Chicago on a sunny Spring day for “getting ready” photos at Olivia’s childhood home. Their family’s adorable husky was there watching over the controlled chaos and was happy to get pets from the bridesmaids and us whenever possible! Olivia’s textured ponytail by Marlo Salon was the perfect fit for her sleek gown from Eva’s International, and her makeup was on-point thanks to the talented Caroline Olenick. Once Olivia was dressed and ready we did a sweet reveal with her bridesmaids and Dad before heading to Water’s Edge for the “first look” and pictures with the wedding party.

Olivia rode separately to Water’s Edge but stopped in with her girls on the trolley for a fun quick dance party before heading out to see Dan. Dan looked a little bit nervous when we met up with him, but those nerves quickly went away as soon as he saw his gorgeous bride. His expression after seeing Olivia was priceless!! After their first look Olivia and Dan were inseparable for the rest of the day.

Once we finished with wedding party and family photos at Water’s Edge we made the trip to St. Christina’s for Olivia and Dan’s ceremony. This was our fourth wedding at St. Christina’s and we just LOVE shooting at this gorgeous church – the light inside of the sanctuary is always stunning thanks to the abundant stained glass and reflective marble surfaces. Olivia and Dan chose to celebrate with a short ceremony, and once they were pronounced husband and wife we made time to take some beautiful photographs of them with that striking prismatic light.

After finishing with pictures at St. Christina’s we made our way to Georgios Banquets to celebrate the newlyweds. The party was packed and the reception hall was bursting with love – Olivia and Dan gave the sweetest welcome speech and remarked on just how amazing it was for so many of their friends and family to be gathered together to celebrate their love. It was truly just the perfect day, we were so honored to be there in honor of Olivia and Dan!

Congratulations, Olivia and Dan, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Callie & Mark’s Perfect Heritage Prairie Farm Wedding

Callie and Mark met in high school through their close mutual friend, Something Blue’s very own Conrad. Conrad had a feeling way back then that these two would be perfect for each other, and it turns out that . . .

Callie and Mark met in high school through their close mutual friend, Something Blue’s very own Conrad. Conrad had a feeling way back then that these two would be perfect for each other, and it turns out that he was right all along. As Callie and Mark’s high school friendship grew into flirtation in college they started a long-distance relationship in 2015.

After dating long-distance for five years Callie and Mark finally moved in together in February 2021 to an apartment in Uptown Chicago with their beloved dog Buzz. A few years later they decided to buy Mark’s parent’s house – in preparing to move Callie asked Conrad if he would come capture some photos of her and Mark at their first apartment together before their lease ended. Little did Callie know that Mark and Conrad had hatched a plan for the photoshoot to be extra special, and Mark proposed outside their first apartment with Conrad there to capture the moment.

Over the years I have loved spending time with Callie and Mark through Conrad, and I was beyond excited to hear that they got engaged and wanted Something Blue to capture their wedding. We planned to do their engagement session in Chicago, starting first at the lakefront and ending in Uptown to honor the time they spent living together there. I really loved getting to know Callie and Mark better at their engagement session, they are so in-sync and their love feels like it is the most natural thing in the world.

When the Friday arrived for Callie and Mark’s wedding I was so nervous and excited to head to Heritage Prairie Farm with Christy to capture the day. We truly believe that Heritage Prairie Farm is THE perfect venue – it’s so welcoming and beautiful there and the food is without question the best wedding food we have ever experienced. It was a beautiful September Friday and so much fun to see so many friends when we arrived – having Conrad there as a groomsman and guest was definitely a wild experience! And it was so special seeing his fiancé Ami and friends Eve, Doyle and Pat not to mention the many guests that were there to celebrate Callie and Mark. We love all of these people and were so thankful to spend this time with them at our favorite place!!

Callie looked absolutely gorgeous, which Mark sweetly told her the second he saw her at their First Look. He didn’t take his eyes off her for the rest of the day, and he later delivered perhaps the most touching and romantic vows we have ever heard from a groom. As we all wiped away tears Callie and Mark kissed and joyfully toasted their signature drinks outside in the sunshine. And of course everyone then had to toast an Underberg together (those reaction shots might be some of my favorites from the day!)

The tent at Heritage Prairie Farm looked extra beautiful thanks to the talented floral team at Purple Rose. After giving a beautiful and heartfelt speech Conrad took a few moments out of enjoying dinner to fly his drone for some stunning sunset photos of Callie and Mark. Once the sun set we gathered together and “sent off” the newlyweds with sparklers (well, we took some fun pictures and then headed back to the tent for dancing and rejoicing!) Our friend Karen came along to create a beautiful live painting of Callie and Mark’s first dance – they danced to Phoebe Bridgers’ beautiful version of “Friday I’m in Love” that may just be my new favorite because it reminds me of Callie and Mark’s perfect love. This was truly the best day, what an honor and joy to be there to celebrate Callie and Mark!!

Congratulations, Callie and Mark, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Michelle & Nolan’s Salvage One Engagement Session

We first connected with Michelle and Nolan when she scheduled an Extended Family session for her family. Michelle is a ray of light and after Christy photographed her family she had such a great time meeting this sweet couple she recommended we connect to talk about their wedding plans for next year. Well, within about thirty seconds of meeting Michelle and Nolan I was in love, this couple has such a warmth to them and a natural connection. I was overjoyed when they hired us to photograph their wedding at Salvage One for next September!!

I was so excited when Michelle and Nolan asked if I would come downtown to Salvage One for their engagement session, I always feel inspired when I am in this amazing space! I had the idea to invite Conrad to join us and shoot some film on his vintage cameras, film photography and Salvage One seem felt like a match made in heaven. So he loaded up some color and BW rolls in his Minolta TC-1 point-and-shoot, his Leica M6 and Mamiya RZ67 and went with me to shoot this engagement session on film. After he sent off Michelle and Nolan’s rolls to The Darkroom and got the scans back we were SO excited about these images, can we just shoot EVERYTHING on film please??! I mean, how stunning are all of these?

Conrad’s film scans are so gorgeous I can’t help but feel tempted to shoot every session on film now! But I think these digital images that I shot are pretty good too :) It was SO much fun to photograph these two at Salvage One, honestly this was such a dreamy afternoon!!

Thank you, Michelle and Nolan, for inviting us to share in your love story. We are beyond excited to celebrate your wedding next Fall!!

Christine & Mason’s Gorgeous Morton Arboretum Wedding

I first met Christine when she helped her good friend Stephanie with her dog at her engagement session in the Fall of 2022. Christine and Stephanie are besties from college and I knew right away that they . . .

I first met Christine when she helped her good friend Stephanie with her dog at her engagement session in the Fall of 2022. Christine and Stephanie are besties from college and I knew right away that they had a special friendship, I mean how many people would give up a weekend afternoon to help manage their friend’s dog during a photo shoot?! But that’s the kind of person Christine is, selfless and kind and willing to go the extra mile for her friends.

I was thrilled when Christine invited us to photograph her wedding to her fiancé Mason! We had a lovely afternoon together during their engagement session last Summer at The Morton Arboretum where we would return in 2024 for their wedding day. I loved exploring the beautiful sprawling property with Christine and Mason and finding pockets of pretty light with them, that session made me so excited for their wedding!

When the big day arrived Conrad and I met Christine upstairs at the Morton Arboretum where she was waiting with her Mom and sister Rachel. Christine looked gorgeous in her gown from Bri’Zan Couture, and her hair and makeup was perfect thanks to the talented team from The Bridal Beauty Team. After the beautiful flowers arrived from Shamrock Garden Florals we were ready to move outside – Christine first had a sweet and emotional reveal with her Dad before her First Look with Mason. Once everyone had seen Christine we moved across the Arboretum to the Thornhill Education Center for photos. Christine and Mason chose a small wedding party – only her sister Rachel and his best friend Jake – and we had the best time taking pictures with these four. We just love small wedding parties, there’s something so intimate and comfortable about spending time with the people you love most on your wedding day. After taking pictures outside we were given the opportunity to make some beautiful photographs inside the Thornhill Education Center, those were some of our favorite moments from the day!

Christine and Mason’s ceremony took place at the Grand Garden and was absolutely stunning – this gorgeous site felt like an Italian vista and was the perfect spot for this sweet couple to exchange their vows. After their ceremony we moved into the Ginko Room to celebrate the newlyweds, our very own Ashley and Marcella had gone above and beyond as day-of coordinators to help make the room look party-ready. We snuck away during the reception to enjoy beautiful golden light across the pond before the sun set and the dance floor opened. Christine and Mason’s guests danced the night away (the party was so much fun that we had to give some wedding crashers the boot!) It was an amazing day and we were so grateful to share in Christine and Mason’s love story 💙

Congratulations, Christine and Mason, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Jeanne and Kevin’s Emotional DiNolfo’s Wedding

Jeanne and Kevin’s love story may well be one of the most romantic we have ever had the honor of witnessing. With over sixteen years of friendship as their foundation, being alongside Jeanne and Kevin as they made things official and became husband and wife was an absolute joy. . .

Jeanne and Kevin’s love story may well be one of the most romantic we have ever had the honor of witnessing. With over sixteen years of friendship as their foundation, being alongside Jeanne and Kevin as they made things official and became husband and wife was an absolute joy.

Jeanne’s first memories of Kevin go back to their Sunday morning CCD class at St. Christina’s (the same church where they would get married 16+ years later!) where she said he was “one of the only well-behaved and respectful kids”. Kevin remembers meeting Jeanne in high school through mutual friends and valuing their friendship from the very beginning. Though they always shared affection with one another, Jeanne and Kevin’s friendship really solidified when she became pregnant with Thomas. Kevin left the door open and Jeanne felt comfortable enough to turn to him to be her sounding board. Where the father of Jeanne’s baby was absent, Kevin stepped in and was a friend to her through thick and thin. Kevin took Jeanne on her maternity ward tour, took her out for ice cream and to their senior prom. From the beginning, Jeanne would describe Kevin as “one of the best men” she knew, while Kevin knew from those early days that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Jeanne.

Jeanne and Kevin found themselves bonding more and more every day through laughs and tears. As years passed, they watched each other go in and out of relationships with others while secretly rooting for those other relationships would end so they could have a chance to be together. Kevin loved Jeanne and her son Tommy from the start, while Jeanne and Tommy always sensed that love from Kevin and felt at home with him. It was only a matter of time before Jeanne and Kevin ended up together, and their marriage officially made the three of them a family. As Kevin said, “Jeanne is my better half, Tommy my son, these things have always been in my heart.”

Conrad, Ashley and I were all so happy to come along for Jeanne and Kevin’s wedding. There were so many emotional moments throughout the day, but those moments with Tommy will stand out as our favorites to witness. Tommy’s reaction to seeing his Mom as a bride. Tommy’s pride as he stood alongside his Mom at the altar, his smile when taking pictures with the wedding party. His laugh when Jeanne picked up her teenage son “just to prove she can”. But perhaps our favorite moment of the day was when Tommy gave the most eloquent and heartfelt toast during their celebratory dinner at DiNolfo’s Banquets – there was not a dry eye in the room as Tommy confidently delivered THE best toast we have ever heard. It was truly a magical day filled with so much beauty and love, we will always cherish the memories of this perfect wedding.

Congratulations, Jeanne and Kevin, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Grace & Ian’s Perfect Glen Club Wedding

Grace and Ian met at their residence hall during their Freshman year at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. They quickly became friends and spent a lot of time together throughout their first two years of college. Grace and Ian officially started dating Junior year when Grace took the leap and grabbed Ian's hand during a football game. They walked home to Grace's apartment and spent the whole day laughing and talking and have been inseparable since. Ian chose to propose at the Terrace in Madison to honor where their love story first began.

When I first met Grace and Ian I was struck by how beautiful and joyful Grace is. She is truly a treasure, and her and Ian fit together perfectly. I loved getting to know this sweet couple (and their incredibly cute puppy!) at their engagement session last Fall. We had so much fun exploring together in spite of the unpleasant Chicago Fall weather! Fast-forward to their wedding day this October and sadly the midwest weather was not on our side again. But Grace, in her awesomeness, was up for anything and wanted to power through and still take photos outside at the Chicago Botanic Garden as planned!! After Grace and Ian did their first look at The Glen Club we made our way to the Botanic Garden – it was raining on the drive there but thankfully it let up just as we were parking. Grace bounded out of the party bus with a broad smile on her face, she was ready for anything and happy to drag Ian and the rest of their wedding party along for photos : ) It was blustery but so beautiful at the Botanic Garden, we would joyfully photograph there every weekend if we could! Grace looked radiant and Ian was so happy to be alongside his gorgeous bride, it was such a special afternoon.

After we finished photos at the Botanic Garden we went back to the Glen Club for Grace and Ian’s ceremony. Everything looked so beautiful thanks to the talented team at Flowers by Stem, these were some of the most gorgeous wedding florals we saw all year. Grace and Ian exchanged their vows under a magnificent chuppah that was later transformed into the prettiest head table for their reception. We snuck outside for a few more pictures of Grace and Ian once they were officially husband and wife, the grounds at the Glen Club are beautiful and we had a really dramatic sky thanks to that unpleasant midwest weather from earlier.

When it was time for the reception we were treated to emotional toasts from Grace’s Dad and sister. After a delicious meal and amazing cake from The Baking Institute (with THE most intricate sugar flowers!) we were surprised by an adorable choreographed first dance. Grace and Ian are just magical together, we loved being part of this unforgettable day!

Congratulations, Grace and Ian, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Sara & Andy’s Romantic Boundary Ballroom Wedding

Sara and Andy met in 2015 when they were both working at the social work agency Thresholds downtown. Andy is a social worker and Sara was working there as an administrative assistant while going to grad school. They had crushes on each other . . .

Sara and Andy met in 2015 when they were both working at the social work agency Thresholds downtown. Andy is a social worker and Sara was working there as an administrative assistant while going to grad school. They had crushes on each other without realizing the other was interested, and ended up going on to separate jobs without connecting. Their friend group from that job stayed close though, and when the opportunity arose in late 2018, they pushed us toward each other again, figuratively and literally. Sara and Andy moved in together during COVID and survived working from home in their two bedroom apartment for two years. They got engaged on Christmas morning 2021 at Promontory Point, where they had gone on one of their favorite dates.

Books are a central theme for Sara and Andy’s relationship – they love sharing books with one another and chose to do part of their engagement session at their favorite bookstore downtown. They bonded over Jane Austin’s “Persuasion” and that book made an appearance both at their engagement session and on their wedding day. I loved getting to know Sara and Andy that day, and when our session was cut short by bad weather we had the opportunity to reconnect later that fall at Promontory Point for the rest of their session. Every time I was with Sara and Andy it was plain to see just how in-love these two are, Andy absolutely adores Sara and is just so sweet with her.

When the time came for Sara and Andy’s wedding we were all so excited to celebrate their love. Sara looked amazing in her beautiful Morilee By Madeline Gardner gown, and once they had their emotional first look Andy could not take his eyes off Sara for the rest of the day. We have hardly ever seen a groom who was more eager to compliment his bride, Andy could not stop looking at Sara and telling her how beautiful she was.

Sara and Andy chose to do their romantic first look at the Schiller Park Library so they could be surrounded by books on their wedding day. They also had beautiful literary details sprinkled throughout their wedding, including amazing paper flowers made by their friend and a truly epic book archway that set the stage for their wedding ceremony. Sara and Andy’s wedding day was just as romantic as the books the first bonded over, we were honored to be there to celebrate their love.

Congratulations, Sara and Andy, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Lauren and Kevin met on a dating app and she went into their first date thinking "there is no way I'm going to marry someone named Kevin anyway" since Kevin is also her brother's name – well, the joke was on Lauren . . .

Lauren and Kevin met on a dating app and she went into their first date thinking "there is no way I'm going to marry someone named Kevin anyway" since Kevin is also her brother's name – well, the joke was on Lauren . . . Within a few minutes of meeting Kevin she already knew she really liked him and was hoping they would go out again. Just two days after their first date, Kevin left the country for 2 weeks, which Lauren thought was his excuse to not see her again despite saying he wanted to. A very convenient way to ghost her! A few days before Kevin was supposed to fly back home he texted Lauren to see if she was still interested in a second date. They have been together ever since and the rest is history!!

Conrad loved getting to know Lauren and Kevin at their pretty Cantigny fall engagement session last year. It was clear from that day that these two are made for one another, and their love was on full display at their perfect Royal Melbourne wedding. Lauren and Kevin’s friends and family were all so kind and supportive, Conrad and Christy had a wonderful time photographing this wedding from start to finish. Every detail was perfectly considered thanks to the support of the amazing team at Love Story Weddings, Jelena is truly the best. After the ceremony the overcast sky cleared just enough for some beautiful sunset photos on the course, Jelena even stepped in to help hold lights for us! It was the most beautiful wedding, we wish we could relive this day over and over again!!

Congratulations, Lauren and Kevin, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Kaylee & Matt’s Beautiful Chevy Chase Country Club Wedding

Kaylee and Matt both went to Prospect High School, they were one school year apart and knew of each other for a while. They truly met for the first time at Lollapalooza in 2016. Kaylee went with her girlfriends and connected with Matt and his friends at the festival. Kaylee and Matt had a blast together that day and decided to go together the next day even though their friends weren’t going. They talked nonstop for the next several weeks and were dating shortly after that. Throughout college, Kaylee and Matt dated long-distance and went to see each other whenever possible on weekends. Matt proposed to Kaylee at a lookout tower on a walk that had long been one of their favorites, and the rest is history!

Conrad loved getting to know Kaylee and Matt during their beautiful engagement session in Long Grove last winter. Conrad and Lindsay were both so excited to celebrate Kaylee and Matt’s wedding with them at one of our favorite venues, Chevy Chase Country Club. It was a beautiful (but windy!) day filled with sweet moments. One of our favorites was getting to know Kaylee’s grandfather a bit, he came up to Lindsay at the church to talk about how proud he is of Kaylee. He told Lindsay that he had retired to help babysit Kaylee and her siblings; then later at the reception Kaylee had a special dance with her grandfather and cousins, it was so sweet. Kaylee rocked tennis shoes all day to keep comfy and Matt joined her later at Chevy Chase with comfy kicks of his own, we love a couple who embraces their unique style at their wedding! All in all it was the perfect day, we are so happy that we could be a part of it!

Congratulations, Kaylee and Matt, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Emily and Nick’s Gorgeous Makray Memorial Wedding

Emily is sort of our dream-bride – she’s gorgeous, which certainly makes our jobs easier, but she’s FUN to be around and made our jobs easy. Emily and Nick have a beautiful connection

Emily is sort of our dream-bride – she’s gorgeous, which certainly makes our jobs easier, but beyond that she’s FUN to be around. Emily and Nick have a beautiful connection, they are naturally so caring and their affection for one another made their wedding day feel so enjoyable for me and Conrad. We knew from when Conrad got to know Emily and Nick at their pretty Winter engagement session in Long Grove that theirs was going to be an unforgettable wedding!

Emily and Nick bonded over video games early in their relationship and we saw glimmers of that early connection during their wedding at Makray Memorial Golf Club – it was pretty epic to hear video game music as the bride walked down the aisle! Emily floated down the aisle on her Dad’s arm – they have a special connection that we loved seeing throughout the day. Her Dad sung “Forever Young” and played guitar during the reception as his “toast,” it was so touching and beautiful. As dinner was served we took Emily and Nick outside on the 18th hole for some “sunset photos,” after practicing their first dance Emily joyfully ran back toward the building to get back to their reception. We love this adventurous and spirited couple and are so thankful to have had the opportunity to be a part of their wedding day!

Congratulations, Emily and Nick, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Jamie & Patrick’s Perfect Heritage Prairie Farm Wedding

Jamie and Patrick are both teachers who met when they started new jobs in a new district. She taught second grade and he is a PE teacher. They met at a welcome party for their new principal. Over the next two years they became great friends. . .

Jamie and Patrick are both teachers who met when they started new jobs in a new district. She taught second grade and he is a PE teacher. They met at a welcome party for their new principal. Over the next two years they became great friends. Patrick wanted to ask Jamie out but didn't want to ruin the friendship they had built. In August 2020, Jamie left to go to a new district to teach 3rd grade. Even though they were no longer working together, Jamie and Patrick remained close and soon he asked her to spend time together “just the two of us.”

Starting to date during Covid forced Jamie and Patrick (along with SO many of our Something Blue couples!) to be creative with how they spent time together. They went on many adventures that included walks and drive through Christmas lights. In April 2022 Patrick took Jamie on a scavenger hunt. Jamie's mom picked her up and gave her the first clue. Each clue was a memory from their relationship (first place we met, first date location, first kiss location, first place they said I love you). At each location was a friend of family member to give the next clue to Jamie. The final clue led to the picnic spot were they met after Jamie got a new job. When they left that day we thought we would never see each other again. So when Patrick proposed at this location, he shared that the last time they were there there they left thinking they wouldn't see each other again and when they left today they would leave being together forever.

Conrad first spent time with Jamie and Patrick at their engagement session at the beautiful Heritage Prairie Farm (our favorite venue!!) He loved spending time with these two, they share such a deep bond and are both filled with kindness and humility. As they explored the farm together they also got in plenty of time with local celebrity Carl (otherwise known as @badkittycarl) Conrad LOVES Carl (everyone’s favorite wedding crasher at Heritage Prairie Farm) but Patrick isn’t as sold on him – this bad kitty definitely jumped up onto Patrick during their engagement session! He then also proceeded to fully crash their wedding ceremony by wandering up and down the aisle during their vows looking for pets 😹

Jamie and Patrick’s wedding day could not have been more perfect. When we arrived, everyone was In great spirits – Jamie and her friends were relaxing together in the farmhouse as they finished hair and makeup, and Patrick and his buddies had a lot of fun opening their custom Cubs’ jerseys and beer bats (such an epic gift for the groomsmen!) When the time came for Jamie and Patrick to see one another they did their First Look right outside the farmhouse before sharing private vows with one another. We really love when couples choose to do this, it’s a beautiful and intimate moment and always clears the air for FUN for the rest of the day! Jamie and Patrick both shed tears when sharing with each other, it was an honor to be present in that moment.

After getting some photos with their (very fun!) wedding party, we moved under the tree out back for their ceremony. Guests sipped cold fresh lemonade and relaxed under paper parasols while Jamie and Patrick were pronounced husband and wife, and then the celebration could truly begin! We had the best time with Jamie and Patrick and their loved ones, it was a perfect day!

Congratulations, Jamie and Patrick, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

McKenna & Kyle’s Memorable Metropolis Ballroom Spring Wedding

We first met McKenna and Kyle over Zoom during the pandemic but were so happy to meet them in person at our friends’ Nicolete and Terry’s wedding last November. McKenna created Nicolete’s gorgeous “getting ready” outfit . . .

We first met McKenna and Kyle over Zoom during the pandemic but were so happy to meet them in person at our friends’ Nicolete and Terry’s wedding last November. McKenna created Nicolete’s gorgeous “getting ready” outfit, we knew then that we could expect plenty of personalized and creative details at her wedding this Spring.

When the time came for us to meet McKenna and Kyle at the Metropolis Ballroom for their wedding we were so happy to be surrounded by a big wedding party again!! McKenna and Kyle first met in 2015 when they were both working for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club. After a year of being friends and going back and forth on Facebook messenger, McKenna made the move and told Kyle how she felt. They eventually went on their official first date in August 2016 and have been inseparable ever since. Kyle proposed to McKenna in the kitchen of their old apartment on their 5th year anniversary. Their wedding day was truly perfect – McKenna had thought of every beautiful detail! After McKenna got dressed in the beautiful Harmony Suite she had the sweetest “first look” with her bridesmaids and her Dad before heading into the Ballroom to see Kyle and exchange private vows. We truly love when couples exchange private vows, those quiet intimate moments are the heart and soul of a big joyful wedding day!

The sun came out just in time for us to head outside to the fountain for some wedding party and couples’ photos. It was a brisk but beautiful day!! We made time for a few epic veil shots before the chilly March wind got the better of us, but McKenna looked truly gorgeous even while braving the elements!

After the ceremony we were all ready to party to celebrate the newlyweds! We enjoyed a delicious meal and some heartfelt toasts to McKenna and Kyle before Tim from Ready Set Dance filled the dance floor and kept everyone going all night long! McKenna and Kyle surprised their guests with a t-shirt toss to honor their time with the Fire (with shirts that McKenna created, obvs) and McKenna showed off her splits just in time for us to say goodnight. It was an amazing day, we were so thankful to be a part of it!!

Congratulations, McKenna and Kyle, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Nicolle & Billy’s Picture-Perfect NYE Wedding

Nicolle and Billy are beautiful both inside and out, two souls destined to be together forever. They first met in college but took some time getting to know one another. Once they officially connected they became inseparable . . .

Nicolle and Billy are beautiful both inside and out, two souls destined to be together forever. They first met in college but took some time getting to know one another. Once they officially connected they became inseparable, they moved in together in the Fall of 2019 and welcomed the cutest little Covid puppy in the Spring of 2020. Billy proposed to Nicolle at the stunning London House Chicago on their third anniversary.

I had the best time with Nicolle and Billy when we met downtown for their chilly and romantic engagement session. They are both so kind and easy to be with (not to mention incredibly photogenic!) I loved spending that time with them and was so excited to end our 2022 wedding season by celebrating with Nicolle and Billy on New Year’s Eve!

Nicolle had always dreamed of a New Year’s Eve wedding, and with the help of the amazing Rosanna & Co. Nicolle put together the most perfect day. The weather was gorgeous, plenty of sunshine and just enough warmth to make it possible for us to take plenty of pictures outside. Nicolle looked absolutely stunning in her chic Madi Lane gown, but for us the real star was her insane Jimmy Choo pearl wedding heels. After the sweetest reveals with her bridesmaids and Dad we went outside with Nicolle so she could have her First Look with Billy. From that moment these two were inseparable for the full 13 hours that we were at their wedding. After their First Look at the Westin Chicago Lombard we made our way to Visitation Catholic Church in Elmhurst for their traditional Catholic ceremony.

After the ceremony we traveled to the Wilder Mansion for wedding party photos. Nicolle and Billy have the absolute nicest friends and family, they were such good sports posing in the cold (even with the sun it was still December in Chicago!) Billy and his groomsmen made a quick dash for the nearby playground when they finished with their formal photos, we love a group of guys who are still kids at heart!!

When we returned to the Westin the Junior Ballroom was gorgeously decorated and ready for one of the most EPIC wedding receptions we have ever been a part of. Nicolle had thought of every detail to make the party perfect – we celebrated all night long with sparklers, a live wedding painter, cigar rollers, a CO2 cannon, a stylish outfit change and epic NYE countdown. It was the amazing way to usher in the New Year, an absolutely unforgettable night!!

Congratulations, Nicolle and Billy, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Nada & Rami’s Unforgettable Old Post Office Wedding

We first met Nada and Rami at the Lincoln Park Conservatory where Rami had planned the picture-perfect proposal. Nada was so sweetly surprised when Rami got down on one knee, it was such a joy for us to be there! . . .

We first met Nada and Rami at the Lincoln Park Conservatory where Rami had planned the picture-perfect proposal. Nada was so sweetly surprised when Rami got down on one knee, it was such a joy for us to be there! He worked with his friends to set up a beautiful sitting area with sparkly lights and champagne ready to celebrate, it was just the best night.

As Nada and Rami worked to plan their wedding we followed along with their adventures on Instagram. We were thrilled to be asked to photograph their wedding at the stunning Old Post Office downtown. After getting to know Leah and the Old Post Office through our Love is Essential wedding earlier this year we were so happy to have another gorgeous wedding to celebrate at this unforgettable venue!

Conrad caught up with Nada and Rami for an amazing sunflower field engagement session just before their wedding. These two share such a beautiful love together and their connection was on full display at their engagement session and then again on their wedding day.

Nada looked amazing thanks to her glam squad, Rami’s reaction when seeing his bride on the rooftop of The Old Post Office was so incredibly sweet. After their first look Nada and Rami happily walked arm in arm around the city with us as we took photos of just the two of them together. We had so much fun exploring and making beautiful photographs, it was a dream wedding. When we returned to the Old Post Office the celebration officially began with their amazing rooftop zaffe ceremony followed by endless music and dancing. It was a night we will never forget (scroll all the way down to see Rami being tossed INSANELY high in the air by his buddies during the reception!) We had the most amazing time celebrating these two and are thankful to have been there to celebrate their love.

Congratulations, Nada and Rami, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Caroline & Drew’s Amazing Artifact Events Wedding

Caroline and Drew met the summer of 2016 at a nightclub in Chicago – they were reluctantly dragged there by their respective friends and started talking as it was clear . . .

Caroline and Drew met the summer of 2016 at a nightclub in Chicago – they were reluctantly dragged there by their respective friends and started talking as it was clear that neither of them wanted to be there. That night sparked a relationship that would forever change both of their lives. Caroline and Drew quickly engrained themselves in each other's lives – they met each other's friends right away, met each other's families within 6 months and were basically inseparable. They adopted a puppy named Penny in Fall of 2019 who very quickly became the center of their universe. They got engaged in November of 2020, they would say it was the only bright spot of the whole year. During the pandemic they would take long walks along the lake a couple times a week, both for their benefit and for Penny's. Drew picked out one of the best overlook spots along the lake and got down on one knee with Penny in one hand and the ring in the other and asked "will you marry us?"

I was lucky enough to visit Caroline and Drew (and Penny!) at home for the first part of their engagement session last summer. Caroline and Drew share such a natural love, it was plain to see from the moment I met them that they were made for each other. When it came time to celebrate their wedding this Fall we were all so happy to be a part of this beautiful day in our beloved hometown. Chicago has never looked better than it did for Caroline and Drew’s wedding day. We met at the gorgeous Hotel Zachary where Caroline got ready with an amazing view of Wrigley Field. Caroline looked INSANE in her sleek and modern Vagabond gown – judging from the reactions of both her bridesmaids and groom everyone agreed that she made an absolutely stunning bride. We traveled to Olive Park for wedding party photos and had so much fun with Caroline and Drew’s sweet and supportive friends.

When we arrived at Artifact Events everything was perfectly set for an unforgettable night. Caroline and Drew stole away some quiet moments together before their emotional ceremony, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house as Caroline walked down the stairs to meet Drew at the altar. As Drew smashed the glass and they were pronounced husband and wife the crowd went wild and we didn’t look back for the rest of the night. It was the best party, a celebration worthy of this amazing couple.

Congratulations, Caroline and Drew, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

Margret & Kyle’s Salvage One Wedding Anniversary Celebration

In August 2021 Margaret and Kyle hosted an intimate backyard wedding for their immediate families and closest friends. It was such a great night, a highlight for us amongst the small weddings we photographed throughout the pandemic. Margaret and Kyle have a unique connection and an incredible support squad. That beautiful but unassuming summer night showed us that their friends and family mean the world to them.

We were truly excited to reconnect with these two for their anniversary celebration exactly one year later. When Margaret and Kyle came to our Studio to talk through the details for their big day we laughed so much and had the best time talking together (in fact, they helped us hatch a super fun idea for a Something Blue “wedding reunion” party bus tour next year!) Their long-awaited Salvage One wedding was absolutely perfect, we loved every moment spent celebrating this couple. From their sweet "First Look” in the south garden at The Art Institute (she surprised him by wearing a new dress, while his tux changed from green to burgundy) to their late-night twirls in front of Salvage One’s “CHICAGO” sign this was a day we will always remember. Now if only we could do it again to celebrate their second anniversary!!

Congratulations, Margaret and Kyle, we love you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!
